Watch the rhythm

20 August 2026 · 44 seconds · narrated, captions on screen

The whole interaction — hold, speak, let go — as a forty-four second film. Drawn in the same hand that drew this site, and narrated by a Mac's own built-in voice — fitting, for a product about machines that listen. It is an illustration, not a screen recording, and like everything here it is served from this site's own servers.

Narrated by a synthetic voice, with every word also on screen and the full transcript below.

Dictave — Hold. Speak. Let go.

1 · Hold the shortcut. A key is pressed and held. “From wherever you already are — nothing steals your typing focus.”

2 · Say it out loud. The level meter dances while a small indicator reads Listening. “Talk the way you would talk across a desk. Say ‘comma’ or ‘full stop’ — you get punctuation, not the words.”

3 · Let go. The indicator reads Thinking, then Typing, and the sentence “Let’s move the review to Thursday morning.” types itself into a text field, finished. “The finished text lands at your cursor — in whatever app you were in.”

Closing. “Speech becomes text on your own Mac. It is not sent anywhere.” — dictave.ai

The narration is a Mac's built-in synthetic voice, and says exactly what the captions show.
